Friday Night CyberSalon
Im guessing we should have done CyberSalon on a Friday night before. Obviously we are really geeks if we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and spent a chunk of time at a bar, with all of our laptops and very giant beers. This picture became our new CyberSalon Google Groups image. Thanks CogDog!
Some of the discussions that stood out to me were BeFitt and I agreeing we would Tumble instead of Twitter (although Im sure well do that too) while at sxsw interactive next month. Looks like we may have talked CodDog to coming to sxsw with us, whoo hoo! Nooccar and I decide upon a textbook we would try for our first round of an online multimodal ENG101, first semester of first year composition, we are building. I think we were more excited that we are trying to embrace the New London Groups and Kresss theories on multimodality as we design and teach the course. At least Dr. Coop kept grounding us with the questions of when exactly are they going to write? and your colleagues will accept this? Realistically she agrees with our craziness, she just knows that so many of our writing instructor brethren across the district will not. My favorite moment of the evening was when we were talking about the difference between social networking and online communities (a thing my co-author and I were just working on for the textbook). BiFit found something by Lee LeFever of the CommonCraft show and was like there is a new video and we all rushed to gather around her computer to watch. Needless to say we were sad there was no video; however, it was funny to see how quickly we all moved at the prospect of one!
It sounds like CyberSalon may start moving to Friday evenings (so no one has to get up in the morning to work) and to individuals homes (cheaper beer, better food). Keep an eye out. Oh, and we started a delicious tag cybersalonaz.

What a blast we had!! I can’t wait until the next one! And I agree, the best moment was Lee LeFever, Common Craft bit. Wow… we really are geeks!
I’m so bummed that I don’t get to come to the CyberSalon! If you all ever decide to have an online component while you’re meeting in person, let me know.
We should have a CyberSalon channel on Justin.TV! We all have webcams, right?
It rocked out, but damn I thought I was gonna float home. Nice summary.
It was a blast and a half, and I am scratching my head to figure out how y’all were going on and on about text books after that much booze
That would have been fun Susan, doh, was not thinking, I could have easily turned on a ustream.tv channel. Next time for sure.
And now we have a tag, groovy.
But hey Shelley ,"CodDog" ? some sort of fish hound? I know its unpronounceable, but its my brand!
