Geeking Out Over New Tools
The Cyber Salon met this past Monday, October 8, at the Village Idiot Tavern again. I felt bad that I did not find something further west, at least in west Tempe, so that Dr. Coop would not have to travel so far. I promise...I’ll find something before the next time. (FYI...we’ll be meeting one week earlier, the first Monday, in November.)
What did we do?
Alisa and I gabbed about finding Stixy. We really liked the idea that online storage could be presented in a visual manner. Devon uploaded some pictures and found that you could resize the thumbnails to see what the image was before opening/downloading the file. I really liked the idea of seeing whether people could use it as a portfolio tool.
Knowing that MCC is going to do a migration study with rSmart, testing how well our courses will migrate from WebCT 6 to Sakai, Devon and I tried to fiddle around in Sakai a bit. Honestly, we didn’t get very far, enough though that we found you could code calendar entries with little icons. Cool! We’ll both need to spend some time with this tool.
