An IT leaders “ecosystem” includes strategic planning, governance, and project/portfolio management. Strategic plan sets the vision, but needs focus! Governance gives focus, but needs structured execution. Project/Portfolio management gives structured execution. And needs communication to hold it all together.
Examples of Governance Structure and Principles
Need an IT steering Committee as well as IT Architecture and Infrastructure committee, Non-Academic IT Systems, Academic IT Systems, as well as Ad Hoc committees as needed.
The panelist then discussed various case studies about funding issues, disaster & business continuity planning, and identity and access management.
